The last few weeks I have felt as if I'm in a trial to test my patience and perseverance. I know that I am reaching that age in which I just don't understand some of the modern rules of society. I am really struggling with the so called "Millenium" generation. I have done some investigation and one word appears to sum up this generation: ME.
I grew up in a home where the motto was "it's not about you"! A person was always supposed to look out for their fellow human being prior to promoting themselves. Take care of your brother and your brother will take care of you. Give and you shall receive. Treat others in a way that you would want to be treated. All of these concepts have gone by the wayside these days. I don't know about anyone else, but this mindset is very disturbing for me.
Do I give in to the Millenium mindset because they are our future or do I try to instill character and integrity whenever I get the chance? I have always been against conformity regarding matters of social justice and biblical principles. If I am striving to be like Him, I know that I shouldn't give in to popular culture and belief systems. The Lord would never conform to us just to make us feel better. We have to live by God's principles, He doesn't live by ours!
